A TOUCH OF HISTORY,

Sesame has been grown since 2,350 BC in Mesopotamia. In Turkey, people innovated by creating the process of extracting the oil from the seeds. This spice is one of the oldest to be used. It was used for its fortifying and toning properties. The soldiers of Ancient Greece used it for their ration (energy stock). This spice is native to Africa. It is during the seventeenth century that it spreaded to the new world with slaves. Easy to grow, this spice is used in many traditional dishes (Asia). The white sesame variety has not undergone any roasting.
